John of Louvain, 1285-1309, Herstal
John "Tristan" of Louvain (1275-1309) was lord of Gaesbeek, Herstal and Montcornet.
He married Félicité of Luxembourg (1275-1336) in 1298. They got 3 children.
His grandfather, Godfrey of Louvain, the first lord of Gaesbeek, let the Gaasbeek Castle build around 1240 to protect Brabant against invasions from Flanders and Hainault, but it was destroyed in 1388.
